PARTY STARTED UNDER THE MAYAN SUN

On November 27, J&B, the world’s ultimate party whisky, staged its most exhilarating event yet, harnessing the power of the Mayan sun to ‘Start a Party’ on the Riviera Maya, the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

Taking inspiration from the mystical Mayan sun rituals the region is so famous for, revellers partied on idyllic white sands in view of the Tulum ruins and witnessed one of the world’s most beautiful solar spectacles, perfectly illustrating why the area was formally known as Zama – the Mayan word for sunrise.Guests enjoyed cocktails specially crafted to evoke the power of the sun, and undertook a plethora of rituals inspired by ancient Mayan culture designed to prepare the body, mind and soul for that moment of sun-drenched awe.

Arriving at an unexpected world of burning torches, glowing dancers and mysterious shaman plucked from the very heart of Mayan culture, 400 VIPs from across the globe partied from dusk ‘till dawn, experiencing a world of mysticism and long forgotten techniques to invigorate, focus and energize for a completely unique J&B celebration.

As the party continued, and increased in intensity, the sun was welcomed from the night sky by music performed by top acts including Kinky, a world renowned 5 piece group with a Latin and rock vibe to really get the party going and No Somos Machos Pero Somos Muchos, one of Mexico’s most renowned and cutting edge DJ duos. Also performing was Xóchitl Luján, thought to be the best Mexican DJ who added her 13 years of experience to the night.J&B has a legacy of starting legendary parties at iconic and unexpected locations all around the world where they have never been held before; World Heritage sites such as the ancient region of Cappadocia in Turkey and the Forbidden City in Beijing, China; as well as a half-built World Cup stadium in Cape Town, a disused Prison at the end of the earth in Ushuaia, Argentina and a converted container ship in Spain that became Europe’s biggest floating nightclub.

Throughout 2011, J&B will continue to ‘Start a Party’ in more unexpected locations throughout the world, always reminding guests that great parties start, and finish, responsibly.
